Job Description:
Job Title: Medicaid Benefits Coordinator
Pay Rate - $17hr
Overview:
This role helps individuals understand and apply for Medicaid. You
will work closely with clients to assess their eligibility, guide
them through the application process, and coordinate with other
agencies to ensure they receive the support they need. You will
report directly to the Unit Supervisor and work under general
supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
Intake and Screening:
Accept referrals from the helpline and other sources.
Assess clients using a standard screening tool to determine
Medicaid eligibility.
Client Assistance:
Explain Medicaid rules and the application process clearly to
clients.
Help clients gather the necessary documents and complete their
applications.
Data Management:
Enter and update client information in our system.
Track application progress and maintain accurate records.
Collaboration:
Coordinate with local agencies and related staff to resolve
eligibility issues.
Participate in outreach, training, and meetings to improve access
to Medicaid services.
Additional Duties:
Provide technical support for clients, including in emergency or
disaster situations as needed.
Handle other Medicaid-related tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
A Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, gerontology, or a
related field with at least 1 year of relevant work experience; or
a degree in another field with 2 years of related experience.
Skills:
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Ability to remain calm and use effective crisis intervention
techniques when needed.
Proficiency with computers, including word processing,
spreadsheets, and database applications.
Familiarity with systems like eCIRTS, FMMIS, or similar is a
plus.
Must be able to type at least 45 words per minute.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform tasks such as sitting, bending, and walking.
Comfortable with extended periods of computer work.
Capable of handling a fast-paced work environment with shifting
priorities and deadlines.
